What if I have filed for my 501(c) exemption, but do not have my Letter of Determination in hand?

You must provide a copy of the most recent 501(c)(3) letter of determination of tax exempt status issued to the oganization by the Internal Revenue Service.  The letter must specify that the organization is not a private foundation described in Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Ex-parte contact or “lobbying” of Wiregrass Foundation directors during application review will likely create a conflict of interest for the director, which could result in an abstention from voting on the application under review.

Is my organization eligible for a grant even if it does not seem to fit in one of the foundation's Zones of Interest?

All applications submitted for consideration are warmly received and much appreciated.  Applications are, however, subjected to a critical review process that emphasizes the adequacy and potential effectiveness of each proposal.  This is not intended to deter potential applications, but some worthy applications may not be approved.  In addition to our regular grants, Wiregrass Foundation also administers a Micro-Grant program for grant requests of $5,000 or less. These grants are intended to assist with fundraisers or single issue/single activity projects.

How long will it take before I hear from the Foundation on the Board's decision?

All applicants will be informed in writing of the decision of the Board of Directors within one week of the Board of Directors Meeting.  If the application is approved, the applicant will be contaced by the WF President to begin the process of developing a formal written Award Agreement to which contains the obligations and responsibilities for both the grantor (WF) and the grantee.

Do I need permission to use Wiregrass Foundation's name in public announcements?

Grantees may use the Wiregrass Foundation name in future public announcements associated with the funding of the grant so long as there is no implied endorsement by Wiregrass Foundation of program findings or conclusions.  The Award Agreement may specify additional restrictions or releases regarding the use of the Wiregrass Foundation's name.

If my organizaiton's grant is declined, is there a time limit for re-application?

There is no restriction on re-applying.

Our organization recieved a Micro-Grant for $5,000.  Are we still eligible for a standard grant?

Receipt of a Micro-Grant award will not preclude an organization from submitting a request under the regular grant program.

I have two grant requests; are there limitations to how many grant requests I can submit at one time?

There is no limit to the number of complete, correctly filed regular grant requests you may submit at one time.  Organizations may apply  more than once per year for a Micro-Grant request, but are limited to a mximum of $5,000 per year.
