Wiregrass Foundation is a private health legacy foundation formed in September 2005 from the sale of Wiregrass Hospice. We use income from that sale to make grants to selected non-profit organizations in the community promoting philanthropy and a spirit of giving in the local community. The Foundation’s hope is to maintain a modest approach to its grant programs with an emphasis of achievement placed on its grantees and local citizens committed to unselfish giving.
The operating staff and governing board of the Foundation are made up of local physicians and professionals, providing a broad perspective on the needs of the community. The Foundation’s membership in local, regional, and national organizations such as the local Chamber of Commerce and Southeastern Council of Foundations fosters informed grantmaking.
